Michael Porter Jr. Inks Max Extensions with Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have signed Michael Porter Jr. to a 5 year max contract extension worth up to $207 million. He needs to make an All-NBA team this season to get that number, otherwise he will get $172 million.

Porter Jr. is coming off a terrific season in which he was healthy for the most part (61 games played). With his history of back injuries, this contract could age badly for the Nuggets. But if he can stay healthy, the Nuggets have now locked up one of the best cores in the NBA with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray already under long term deals.

Joel Embiid Follows MVP Runner-up with SuperMax Extension

The Philadelphia 76ers have officially signed Joel Embiid to a new 4-year supermax extension worth $196 million. This new contract will start with the 2023-24 NBA season and the value could change depending on the salary cap for that season.

The 76ers have locked up their franchise superstar. The Process is working-out pretty good for Embiid as this is his second max contract signed. All that is missing now is that elusive NBA Championship.

Luka Doncic signs Max Extension

It is official, the Mavs official twitter account announced today that they have signed Luka Doncic to an extension. It will be a 5-year, $207 million Rookie Max contract. Since Doncic was already named to an All NBA team, he already qualified for the full $207 million Supermax.

A couple of days after Steph Curry signed his second $200+ million contract, Doncic gets his first and at his age, barring injuries, it is safe to say he will be signing another during his blossoming career.

The signing comes a few days after Trae Young also signed his Rookie Max extension. Doncic and Young will forever be linked after being traded for eachother during the 2018 NBA draft.

Steph Curry: First to Sign Two $200+ Million Contracts

Stephen Curry has finalized his $215 million, four-year extension with the Golden State Warriors. This makes him the first (and definitely not the last) NBA player to sign two contracts worth $200+ million.

During the final season of the deal, 2025-26, he will be making a whooping $59.6 million. At age 37, only time will tell if he will still be worth that kind of money, but since his game is based on shooting and not elite athleticism, I’d say he will age gracefully.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Makes NBA Max Contract History

On December 15th, 2020, Giannis Antetokounmpo, “The Greek Freak”, made NBA history by signing the largest Supermax contract in NBA history – 5 years and $228.2 million. This deal will keep Antetokounmpo in Milwaukee for the next six seasons (including this year which is under his old deal).

The Bucks no longer have to worry about the Greek Freak leaving after this season and can now continue to focus on improving the roster to win a championship (or multiple) while they have him locked-up over the next several years.
